Questioning a fly - a multimedia group exhibition

For the fly, fenced worlds are transient and memory, diluted. Dodging the swatters she flies swiftly through the fissures, infiltrating the concrete borders. A quiet resistance. Latent displacement, an eroded exile.

Curated by Alex Mendi, the exhibitions features the works of Evelio Castillo, Iris Alejandrina, Diya Ali, Jackie Black, Nathaniel R. Thompson, Joshua W. Yates, Seth J. Thompson, Alex Mendi, with live music by DJ Nikko.

It seems like more and more we sacrifice tradition and familiarity for a fast-paced convenience—what are we letting go? What does it mean to resist?

Working across photography, printmaking, 3D rendering, experimental printing techniques and assemblage, these Savannah-based artists come together to question the ways in which one becomes othered, alienated and forgotten.

By bringing a magnifying glass onto the nooks, cracks and crevices of the metropolitan grid, they become interested in the repetitive nature of modernity and the artifacts ––physical or not–– that we leave behind and forget. In a society so fragmented, how can we construct an armature of collective power and identity?
